Instructions for Completing Your Personal Financial SWOT Analysis

Family,

As part of our growth and stewardship work together, we will each complete a Personal Financial SWOT Analysis. This exercise is not about judgment—it is about clarity, wisdom, and alignment.

A SWOT helps you look honestly at your financial life in four areas: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.

How to Fill It Out

Please be prayerful, honest, and practical as you complete each section.

S – Strengths

Ask yourself: What is working well financially?

Examples:

  • Steady income

  • Faithful tithing or disciplined giving

  • Budgeting habits

  • Low or manageable debt

  • Savings or emergency fund

  • Financial support systems

Write down what you are already doing right.

W – Weaknesses

Ask yourself: Where am I struggling or inconsistent?

Examples:

  • Overspending

  • Lack of a budget

  • Credit card debt

  • No savings

  • Poor financial habits

  • Avoiding financial conversations

This section is about awareness, not shame.

O – Opportunities

Ask yourself: What positive changes or growth are possible?

Examples:

  • Paying off debt

  • Increasing income

  • Learning better money management

  • Starting savings or investments

  • Side income or business ideas

  • Financial education or mentorship

Think about what could improve if you act intentionally.

T – Threats

Ask yourself: What could derail my financial stability if not addressed?

Examples:

  • Job instability

  • Rising expenses

  • Medical bills

  • Poor credit

  • Economic uncertainty

  • Undisciplined spending habits

These are the risks you need to pray over and plan for.

Final Step – Submission

Once you have completed your SWOT:

  1. Take a clear picture of your completed SWOT

  2. Send it to me by email or text

This will allow me to:

  • Pray with insight

  • Identify common themes

  • Teach and support you more effectively

Your information will be handled with care and discretion.

Closing Encouragement

Proverbs 27:23 says, “Be diligent to know the state of your flocks.”This exercise helps you know the state of your finances so that wisdom, discipline, and blessing can follow.

Thank you for your honesty and your willingness to grow.

With love and purpose,Bishop Robert J. Bolton
