Grace and Peace family of God.
I know many of you are concerned about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and rightfully so. As your Pastor for your church, Iwant you to know that your safety is high priority. I also should emphasize that while the Coronavirus is concerning, the overall risk to the general public remains low.
Currently, we have approximately 1,016 cases of recorded infections in the US out of 327.3 million people, which is .00031% of Americans infected. Though your risk is very low, carelessness can increase your chances.
The best ways to protect yourself include:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
Try to avoid touching your face.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Stay home from school, church, or work when you are sick.
I want to reiterate that stress can put you at much more risk than this coronavirus and can cause many health issues. Please stay informed, use wisdom, but do not worry and get consumed in this pandemic. That can make you sick in and of itself.
Finally, there are natural concerns from some of our OACC partners regarding our interactions at church. We will still have moments of fellowship because it is a good time to atleast get a break and go to the bathroom (or speak and greet someone). With that said, please us proper precautions in your greeting and respect other's concerns regarding greeting you. I would advise holding short conversations with someone near you or across the room, but act in a way that you are comfortable and others are comfortable as well. I will not forbid any greeting that you and someone else may be comfortable with, but please use wisdom in all things.
WE WILL NOT MOVE IN FEAR, BUT IN WISDOM. See you Sunday or even tonight!
Love, Bishop
